Energy Healing

In the Hindu religion both Brahman, pure cosmic consciousness, and Shakti, dynamic active spirit form the Ultimate Reality.  From the Divine originates the spark which manifests as life force, prana, that animates all living beings.

When the life force is blocked or unbalanced within, energy healing works with us, to increase our vibrational frequency, cast negative energy, align with Divine Love, and move life force to restore flow and balance.  The Vedic tradition includes natural, wholistic practices like Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga, and Chakra Alignment, and the ancient medical system of Ayurveda.

It all begins with Breath - to relax the body, calm the mind, and advance life force, which is known by different names in various cultures:  chi, qi, ki, ka, baraka, Oki, Wakan.  Breath as foundation is true of all energy healing modalities from India as noted above, Chinese acupuncture, Japanese Reiki, Egyptian crystal rituals, Western energy medicine, and the practice of Shamanism, specific to traditions of Indigenous peoples throughout the world.

Breath is Life!  When we are mindful of our breath and breathe deeply, we prepare to receive the healing energy.  Completely grounded and focused, we connect and create space for Universal energy to enter and heal our beings.  I believe it is the first step on the journey to heal our hearts.

Welcome

We are heartbroken.  In these dark, despairing times we witness - cruelty to our fellow human beings; challenges to our basic rights and freedoms; the betrayal of America and the world in brazen arrogance and blatant corruption.

Yet, the present moment provides us with the opportunity to choose change.

Nonviolence is a healing of the heart.

Personally, we look to wholistic energy healing that embraces our entire being – body, mind, heart, spirit, soul - aligning with the Divine and allowing the life force to restore balance and flow within us.

Collectively, as our best selves, we join with one another in light, love, and solidarity, through empowered resistance, to restore decency and dignity in our world.

Nonviolence is a way of life, both spiritual and political, as Gandhi teaches.  In thought, word and deed, we open our hearts, awaken to Oneness, and honor the sanctity of Life that we are given.  We refuse violence, embracing conduct that is moral and just; communities that honor our inherent worth and value; and peaceful means of dissent when we face humiliation, terror or oppression.

In the union of Energy Healing and Empowered Resistance, the way of Nonviolence creates a new path for humanity!  There is much to explore on our journey.

VOICE:  REFLECTIONS - NATURE

Empowered Resistance

The Vedas are the ancient texts of the Hindu religion, an oral tradition passed through generations, until the sacred verses were written beginning in 1,800 BCE.  The Vedas are believed to be revealed by the Supreme Source to sages, yogis and disciples through voice or vision, inspiration or intuition.  They are the ultimate authority and are comprised of the Rig, Yajur, Sama, Atharva Vedas which focus on understanding rather than intellect and consistent practice through ritual.

The Upanishads, also known as Vedanta, are the end of the Vedas, and explore the philosophical knowledge of the relation between Brahman and Atman, plus our life goals of awareness and illumination!  The Upanishads teach us that the individual soul, Atman, is as One with Brahman, the Ultimate Reality.  His Divine, Universal Love is given to each and every living being, which supports Gandhi’s belief that we are all inherently good and valued.

Gandhi believes that when we accept the One and All, the unity and interconnection of all living beings, it follows that we can do no-harm, which is the yama or vow of Ahimsa and the essence of nonviolence.  From this original state of Love, it is injustice and indignity that degrade humans in the world and must be met with the yama of Satya, Truth, or Satyagraha, Truth Force, in campaigns of nonviolent resistance.

MUSIC

I love music!  It frees me in every way and makes me happy to be alive!

Sometimes music is so joyful, it makes me dance.  Sometimes music is so beautiful, it makes me cry.  Always, the music, in tinkling bells and tambourines, violins and guitars, horns and drums and keys, awakens something in me.  I sense something magical in the music – something that unites me to realms both primal and universal – something that connects me to others and our shared dreams – something that moves me deeply, makes me feel an inner peace.

Music lives within every human being.  It moves us in synchronicity, to the rhythms of Nature, the heartbeat of humanity, the call of our collective soul.

Songs, in their flowing melodies or eloquent lyrics, may soothe or inspire, delight or enchant us.  Some songs allow for personal reflection; some for political bonding.  Certain songs proclaim a societal shift like Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind; others unite us as anthems for peace, like Imagine by John and Yoko Ono Lennon.

Science shows us that there is a physical basis for our feelings, as music is processed by both emotion and memory centers in the brain.  Further, through anchoring we may hold special musical moments in our memory.  Sparked by hearing a riff or a chorus, pleasant recollections and dopamine levels rise.

Throughout our evolution, humans have embraced music.  We readily connect to familiar patterns of rhythm we know, for example, in the breath.  Indigenous peoples believe that drumbeat connects us to the heartbeat of Mother Earth.  Joseph Campbell, the renowned world mythologist, found that music actually predates language.

Socially, in music, human beings come together, creating a space for open communication, shared experience and vital solidarity!  Music is present in times of celebration and in times of sorrow.  In times of challenge, music moves us forward.  In times of resistance, music helps to clarify who and where we are, what we must do to resolve injustice.

Spiritually, from antiquity, people have believed in the music of the spheres, a cosmic melody arising from the movement of celestial bodies.  The idea being that in creating music, we align with this ethereal energy, bridging Earth and Heaven.  Perhaps our human expressions, join with the choir of angels, in giving glory and gratitude to God!

Vocal coaches and energy healers agree that the voice serves to open the heart.

It may be why people of the Civil Rights movement chose to sing, keeping them firmly embedded in Love, the essence of nonviolent resistance.

I trust that you will be moved by these powerful performances:

The Roots - Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around

The Staples Singers – I’ll Take You There
